We made it! Fortunately it had stopped to snow on Sunday, so we managed to take a train into London. We started off in Ascot, as there were few roughly 20 minutes until the train’s departure we managed to jump into the next bar to have a glass of mulled wine before heading off.
The trip was rather good, although you could feel that the train had a little bit of a problem when departing from a station (nothing like Polar Express though). We arrived in good time at Covent Garden where we took a nice walk around the area before having hot chocolate at the pub outside of the Theatre Royal at at Drury Lane.
The show was fantastic, I know I have talked about this performance before, it’s just the way that the music and the comical mischief is put together is unique. This time around the Christmas songs from the albums of the trio, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. had been interjected between timeless classics such as “I’ve got you under my skin”, “That’s Amore” and “Mr. Bojangles”. I must say I really enjoyed the most part of it, the only thing I would have to complain about is that there was a couple in the eighties that sat besides us that both sang their heart out during the whole performance. I mean, it was not subtle, they could have been a part of the whole performance 😉 Oh well, who am I to cast a shadow on their trip to the theatre on this wonderful sunday.
After the show, we had a quick trip to a Japanese restaurant where we had a meal with our friends, Chris and Teresa from Camberley.
All in all a good day and I can’t believe it only few days until Christmas now. I have added an Youtube clip below for your pleasure below of Dean Martin, the funniest one of the original Ratpack 😉
